Many years ago it had taken two hours on bad roads to get to it from Durban (you had to put chains on your tyres) but now it was close to great highways and under half an hour from the Playhouse, Louis Botha Airport, and also from Pietermaritzburg. Once a showplace visited by King George VI and his family in 1946 but now bedraggled and overgrown with weeds, it had gone to seed and been taken over by marshland. |
