Aberdeen - The town of Aberdeen (1857) is set against the backdrop of the Camdeboo Mountains. It is a treasure chest of Victorian architecture, and, with many of the houses dated before 1890, it has been declared an Architectural Conservation town. Many of the houses are richly decorated and intricately designed with domes, gables, turrets, ?broekie lace? and plaster motifs. |

The town of Adelaide takes its name from Queen Adelaide, wife of King William IV of England. Its owes its origin to a military post built on the banks of the Koonap River at the start of the 6th Frontier War in 1834, and the town was founded in 1861. The Heritage Museum with its collection of fine porcelain china is well worth a visit. Nearby attractions include the Winterberg Mountains, Mpofu Game Reserve and the Kat River Valley. |

The oldest town in the north-eastern Cape, Burgersdorp was founded on the farm Klipfontein in 1846. The inhabitants became the envy of other Karoo towns because, being sheltered in a valley below the Stormberg Mountains, they enjoyed a somewhat milder climate and had access to their own water from the Stormberg Spruit.

The East London Golf Club belongs to the top courses in South Africa. The South African Open Championship took place here seven times already. The course lies near the Nahoon Beach and offers in many places breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean.
The course's terrain is hilly and undulating throughout with considerable differences in altitude. Right at the first hole (par five) it goes steeply uphill. The fairways are mostly seamed by thick bush. There are no water hazards, but numerous well placed bunkers
Visitors are very welcome in East London and the green fees are surprisingly low. The golf course lies at the north end of the East London beach. |
