Location
Although the centre of South Africa's fuel from coal production and home to the world's largest underground coal mining complex, Cosmos Country explodes with colour when pretty pink and white cosmos flowers bloom in late summer.

Cosmos Country lies in the south western part of Mpumalanga against the Free State and Gauteng borders and includes the towns of Secunda, Delmas, Leandra, Bethal, Standerton, Balfour and Greylingstad.

Cosmos Country is big 5 country:
  • It is the only place in the world where petrol is made out of coal on a commercial basis.
  • Sasol Synfuels at Secunda is the biggest factory site in the world.
  • The four Sasol Coal Mines form the biggest underground coal mining complex in the world.
  • This is the only area in the world where coal and gold are mined at the same place at the same time.
  • Graceland was the first casino in the "new South Africa" to receive a gambling license.
Directions
From Johannesburg travel on the N17 to Ermelo. From Ermelo turn onto the N11 to Amersfoort. Once in the town of Amersfoort, turn right at the post office, and then left at the large Coca Cola sign-board. At the T-junction turn right before the railway line and follow the road to the golf course.
