Location
Allanridge, the northern most town in the Goldfields was established in 1947 after the discovery of gold in the North West and was only proclaimed in 1956. The town was named in honour of the late Allan Roberts, whose pioneering work as a geologist and prospector was instrumental in the development of the Free State Goldfields. Its a town of sunshine with a vigorous, healthy climate and moderate winters. Thousands of flamingoes can be seen from the main road and is a characteristic of the region.

Attractions:
  • Allan Roberts's Aandenk
A memorial in the shape of a key, symbolising the unlocking of the goldfields by Robert's prospecting borehole.
  • Allanridge Lake
Thousands of flamingoes and other birds welcome visitors to this pleasant lake.
  • Old mine Locomotive
At the town entrance lies this symbol of the local industry.
  • The Great Trek Monument
In front of the Town Hall a small monument commemorates the centenary of the Great Trek when some 20 000 farmers emigrated from the Cape colony and crossed the Orange River into the interior opening it up for white settlements.
