The town was named in honour of the late Allan Roberts, whose pioneering work as a geologist and prospector was instrumental in the development of the Free State Goldfields. Its a town of sunshine with a vigorous, healthy climate and moderate winters. Thousands of flamingoes can be seen from the main road and is a characteristic of the region. Attractions:
Travel from Johannesburg on the N1 to Kroonstad. At Kroonstad turn onto the R34 to Odendaalsrus and then onto the R30 to Allanridge.
